Musings of a Southern Mixed Media Maven

Hello, I'm Shelly Mendenhall and I'm self- proclaimed Southern Mixed Media Maven.  Yeah, I know I can hear the giggles.  I'm giggling too. But it really is true.  I mean I am Southern, hailing from Fayetteville, North Carolina- you can get a whole lot more southern than that. 


I love all kinds of crafty art.  My main poison (lol) is scrapbooking and stamping with clear acrylix stamps.  But I love painting, creative writing, photography, you name it.  I'm addicted to crafts that have the Tim Holtz flair to them.  I'm also a 15 year personal genealogist. I've traced my family tree up many lines and historical periods. 


I'm also a demonstrator for Close to my Heart clear acrylic stamp and scrapbooking supplies.  This venture affords me a little extra mad money every month for my other media musings. 


I'm disabled by a birth defect and use a wheelchair to get around.  I've had lots of health issues that have side-lined and stopped me a bit in my tracks the last few years.  That said, I was recently fitted for a new power wheelchair that I feel is going to give me back a quality of life that I've missed for more years than I care to count.


And with that, I am ready to jump back into life and do somethings that are fun, and inspire me to use my creativity and imagination.  Life's been passing me by for a while now but no more! I've caught the Downtown Train and I'm headed to the arts and crafts supply stores and possibly the community college to learn a few things I've always wanted to learn just for the pure heck of it. 


No, I'm not going back to school in the sense of obtaining any degrees or fancy papers to hang on the wall to prove my knowledge in my areas of interest.  But I will take some things that inspire me and I want to know about. 


This is what this blog will be about. My comings and goings as well as my "gallery" as it were, to show you the reader, my creations.
